HP technology giants on Wednesday said they have begun to produce several PC products, including laptops, in India.
Adhering to the initiative of ‘Make In India’ from the Indian government, HP has begun to produce many laptop models, desktop towers and desktop tables on Flex in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, according to a statement.
Some of these products meet the requirements based on the sequence of government public procurement and will be available on the government’s e-marketplace portal (GEM) to meet the demands of government departments and other customers, he added.
“HP has partnered with India since starting its operations in the country. He added that the announcement marked an important step for India HP to local manufacturing in line with the ‘Make In India’ program.
“We hope to play a meaningful role in fulfilling the dream of ‘Atmanirbar Bharat’, by expanding the scale and reach of our manufacturing operations,” he said.
This is the first time HP produces various kinds of laptops in India with products such as HP EliteBooks, HP Probooks and HP G8 Series Notebooks, the statement said.
HP has also expanded a locally produced commercial desktop by adding various mini towers (MT) models, mini desktops (DM), small desktop forms (SFF) and various all-in-one PCs, he added.
These products have Intel and AMD processor options. HP now also produces a display monitor in India.
HP has partnered with Flex to produce commercial desktops starting in August 2020.
Since then, HP has significantly expanded manufacturing operations to reaffirm its commitment to the Make In India initiative.
The proximity of Flex facilities to Port Chennai increases operational efficiency and ease of sources of raw materials for making laptops and other PC products, the statement said.
