Furthermore, the Government of the State of Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Kerala also reduced VAT on gasoline and diesel after the Sitharaman call to provide further assistance to consumers after Customs cutting by the Center.

The Public Sector OMC including Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise fuel prices every day in accordance with international benchmark prices and foreign exchange rates. Every change in the price of gasoline and diesel is applied with the effect of 6 am every day. The price of gasoline and retail diesel is different from one country to another because of local taxes such as VAT or shipping costs. After the central government’s decision to cut off excise, several state governments cut VAT in gasoline and diesel.

International oil prices see a major decline in the current international market and this sign is good for the Indian market. Oil prices dropped by around $ 3 per barrel in the early Asian trade on Thursday because investors set a new rally with the meeting of the main producers later determined to open the way for the expected output. Brent crude oil dropped $ 2.76, or 2.4 percent, to $ 113.53 per barrel at 0024 GMT, after rising 0.6 percent on the previous day. Texas West Texas US (WTI) intermediaries fell $ 2.89, or 2.9 percent, to $ 112.37 per barrel, after an increase of 0.5 percent on Wednesday.

Benchmark has been lined up for several weeks because Russian exports were squeezed by the EU and US sanctions against Moscow over the Ukraine invasion, an action called Russia as a “Special Operation”.
