The Interior Ministry will “carefully” carry out a thorough background examination of the newly appointed Indian Air CEO, Ilker AYCI, the PTI news agency quoted an official source on Sunday. AYCI, who is a Turkish citizen, has recently been appointed as MD and CEO of airline by Tata Group.
People who are familiar with the development told PTI that the background check was carried out for all foreign nationals when they were appointed in the key position of the Indian company. It will be the same process for the newly appointed CEO and MD too, they added.
However, the security permit process will only begin once the ministry of the house receives communication about the AYCI from the Civil Service Group or the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Nodal.

AYCI was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1971. He is Turkish president’s advisor Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, when the last is the Mayor of Istanbul, from 1994 to 1998.
He has served the Turkish airline as his chair of 2015 to 2022 and credited by turning the airline around.
AYCI has a degree in political and public administration from Bilkent University. He also conducted a master in international relations from the University of Marmara in Istanbul.
